Howard and Jackie Dubinett describe themselves as boating enthusiasts who both love dogs. They have lived in Monmouth County since 2004 and first came into contact with the Chabad Jewish Center of Holmdel when they inquired about a Torah study class.
Howard is one of the founders of Bio Reference Laboratories, now located in Elmwood Park, N.J. The company, which Howard served as executive vice president and chief operating officer after its founding in 1981, is the third largest full-service clinical diagnostic laboratory in the U.S. When Bio Reference became publicly traded in 1986, Howard took a seat on the board of directors. Over the years he was responsible for compliance with state and federal health regulations and the training of 4,000 employees. Howard, who attended Rutgers University, retired when the company was sold in 2016.
Jackie attended Drew University and the Fashion Institute of Technology and was an accessory buyer for Mandee Shops and Annie Sez women’s clothing stores for 15 years. She also taught quality assurance for Mandee Shops. Jackie was honored as Buyer of the Year twice at Mandee Shops.
Jackie served as president of River Vue Condominium Association in Brielle from 2014 to 2016. In addition to serving on the board of Bio Reference Laboratories from 1986 to 2016, Howard sat on the board of the New York State Clinical Lab Association from 2010 to 2016, and was its co-chairman for three years.
Jackie’s hobbies include walking and gardening, and Howard enjoys wood-working in his shop. Together they enjoy fishing boating – they both hold 100 ton Master Captain licenses — and spending time with their dogs, a miniature Poodle and a Coton Du Tulear.
The couple say the education they received through Chabad has given them a deeper understanding of Judaism and helped connect them to the Jewish community.
